Embedding the widget
Chat bubble placement, appearance customisation, pre-chat forms, and multi-surface widget features.
What's included
The Replify widget is a floating chat bubble that appears on every public page of your WordPress site. It gives visitors access to live chat, ticket creation, KB article search, and (if configured) an AI chatbot. All widget features are included on the free tier, including the absence of "Powered by Replify" branding.
Automatic placement
The widget injects itself via wp_footer. Once Replify is activated, the bubble appears on all public-facing pages without any theme edits, shortcodes, or block insertions. It does not appear inside the WordPress admin.
Customising appearance
Go to Replify → Settings → Widget to configure:
- Primary colour. Controls the bubble, header bar, and send button. Enter any hex value or pick from the colour wheel.
- Position. Bottom-right (default) or bottom-left.
- Welcome message. Text shown inside the widget before the visitor starts a conversation.
- Bubble icon. Default chat icon or upload a custom avatar/logo.
Pre-chat forms
Before a visitor can send their first message, you can require them to fill a pre-chat form. Fields you can enable:
- Name (required or optional)
- Email (required or optional)
- Department selector (routes the chat to the right team)
- Custom message/subject
If all fields are set to optional and left empty, the visitor is treated as anonymous. Pre-chat form settings live in Replify → Settings → Widget → Pre-chat.
Widget surfaces
The widget is not just live chat. Visitors can switch between multiple surfaces using tabs at the bottom of the widget panel:
- Chat. Real-time conversation with an agent or AI chatbot.
- Tickets. Submit a new ticket or check the status of an existing one by email lookup.
- Knowledge base. Search articles by keyword. Popular/featured articles appear by default.
- AI chatbot. If BYO-AI is configured, visitors can ask questions and get instant answers sourced from your KB articles.
File uploads and reactions
Visitors can attach files (images, PDFs, documents) to chat messages directly in the widget. They can also react to agent messages with emoji. Both features work without any additional configuration.
Session persistence
Chat sessions persist across page loads. If a visitor navigates to a different page, the widget reopens to the same conversation. Sessions are tied to a browser cookie, so the history remains available until the cookie expires or the visitor clears it.
Mobile behaviour
On screens below 768px, the widget expands to full-screen when opened. The bubble remains in its configured position. Touch gestures (swipe to close) work on mobile. The widget adapts its layout to ensure input fields stay above the mobile keyboard.
Branding
Replify does not display "Powered by Replify" branding in the widget, even on the free tier. The widget is fully white-labelled out of the box.
